A Rumbalara under-17 player has been handed an 18-match suspension after pleading guilty to two charges of intentionally striking another player.

The incidents happened in last month's Murray Football League grand final against Cobram at Finley Recreation Reserve.

"At the Murray Football League Independent Tribunal held on Wednesday night a Rumbalara under-17 player pleaded guilty to two charges of intentionally striking another player," a league statement read.

"The player was subsequently suspended for a total of 18 matches.

"The sanction is subject to appeal. Rumbalara FC have until 2pm Friday (tomorrow) to lodge the appeal.

"Until then no further comment will be made."
