It may have been the beginning of a new Cricket Shepparton season, but the Blues were able to produce the same brand of cricket that had them atop the podium last summer.
After a big batting effort - in which Liam Gledhill's troops managed 5-231 in 45 overs - Numurkah was able to turn the screws with the ball and restrict the Tigers to 7-188.
A familiar face helped the Blues set a platform for the winning total with the bat, with Daniel Gledhill playing his first game for Numurkah in more than a decade and striking 79 from 117 deliveries.
Alongside Dylan Grandell (70), the openers took the sting out of the Tigers' bowling attack with a 172-run partnership.
Will Arnel (32) joined in the fun to tick the runs over late in the innings, but a spell of 4-45 from nine overs from Ramadan Yze kept the score within reach for the visitors at the Numurkah Showgrounds.
Brendan Scott was the other wicket-taker for the Tigers, finishing with 1-35.
With the bat it was Yze again who starred for the Tigers, hitting 54 from 72 deliveries to give his side a chance at victory with opener Connor Holland (44 from 88).
But the Blues made sure there was too much for too few to do as the overs ran out, and despite quick cameos from Mitch Trevaskis (21 not out from 26) and Aidan Lloyd (15 not out from eight), the Tigers fell 43 runs short of parity.
Tim Braybon snared the most rewards for the Blues in taking 3-34, but the work of Matt Cline to bowl nine overs for just 19 runs was not to be underestimated.
Mitch Grandell, Shaun Downie and captain Gledhill also snared a wicket apiece in the win.
THE GAME
Numurkah 5-231 (Daniel Gledhill 79, Dylan Grandell 70, Ramadan Yze 4-45) defeated Central Park-St Brendan's 7-188 (Ramadan Yze 54, Connor Holland 44, Tim Braybon 3-34).
STAR PLAYER
Ramadan Yze (Central Park-St Brendan's): Yze was in everything for the Tigers in a losing cause, snaring match-best figures of 4-45 with the ball and clipping 54 from 72 with the bat. His efforts just shaded those of Numurkah openers Dylan Grandell and Daniel Gledhill for star player honours.
