Late heartbreak for Euroa on Saturday has kept the outfit to one win from its first six games, but the Magpies will use next week’s interleague bye to hit the reset button.

A dour contest against Tatura fell the way of the Bulldogs in the dying moments, but there were still a number of positive signs for Scott Rowan’s charges, including the senior debuts of Lachie Hill and Bryce Frost.
‘‘It was very scrappy really and I thought we were on top all over the ground and it was just a couple of decisions late in players’ minds just cost us pretty deeply,’’ Rowan said.
‘‘I think we had our structures set up pretty well and unfortunately everyone in the team has to work to do those and I think once (Tatura) were out they were able to use the overlap a bit better than what we did, so there was a little let down there.
‘‘Once you fall behind with a couple of minutes to go, it’s going to be pretty manic. We train for that sort of thing and had a shot on goal with a couple of seconds or whatever it was to go and that’s been the story of our year so far pretty much.
‘‘Lachie was fantastic and Bryce down back (was great), those two boys at 17 and 18 (years of age) they can really hold their heads up high, and in fact a few of the more mature boys can probably have a look at themselves and look at them and see how they go about it.’’
The Magpies face the other three sides in the bottom four in the month of football directly after next week’s bye, meaning they can go on a run if they can produce their best.
‘‘We’ll get a few blokes back,’’ Rowan said.
‘‘We still think we’re a massive part of it all, we’ve just got to win those games we have to win I suppose and that’ll take care of itself.’’
