Hume Fwy closed Melbourne-bound at Wandong

The Melbourne-bound lanes of the Hume Fwy are closed on Friday afternoon following a fatal motorcycle collision.

The closure on the freeway is between Wandong Rd, Wandong and the Northern Hwy, Wallan.

Emergency services are directing traffic to detour west of the freeway towards the Northern Highway and travel through Wallan, or east of the freeway through Wandong using Epping-Kilmore Road and Wallan-Whittlesea Road to reach the Northern Highway and return to the freeway.

According to police, four motorcycles collided about 1pm.

One rider, who is yet to be formally identified, has died at the scene.

Three other riders have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The Hume Freeway between Wandong and Wallan will be closed for some time,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
