The contract for the bridge, which will link the shared pathway network with the botanic gardens and other paths south of the Broken River, was initially expected to be completed by the end of 2020, however COVID-19 delays pushed works back and they commenced just a few months ago.
The bridge will form part of the RiverConnect Paths Masterplan, produced in 2015 to create five new shared path routes through native bushland between Shepparton and Mooroopna.
Funding was awarded by the state and federal governments for the pedestrian bridge, and for path upgrades to significant Yorta Yorta site The Flats, between Shepparton and Mooroopna.
