The Wheelie Florist’s Michelle Quinlan loves the colour yellow, but that is not the only reason she is getting behind Daffodil Day.

Mrs Quinlan, who has supported Daffodil Day in the past, will host a morning tea on Thursday, August 21.
Daffodil Day funds Cancer Council’s crucial research into the disease, and uses the flower as a symbol of life and hope.
“My brother was diagnosed with cancer,” Mrs Quinlan said.
“He was only diagnosed with cancer last year, so we didn’t know about it before I started all this (the florist).”
The heart behind The Wheelie Florist, Mrs Quinlan’s favourite colour aligns well with her profession and the occasion.
At the morning tea, she will have bunches of daffodils for sale, and plenty of themed treats to enjoy.
“It’s an excuse to fill my shop with yellow,” Mrs Quinlan said.
“I’ve even got a yellow jelly slice coming.
“I made everything yellow; yellow doughnuts, yellow cupcakes.”
Building on her fundraising efforts last year, sales from her flowers, baked goods, a raffle, a ‘guess the lollies in the jar’ competition and beverages from The Cafe Rochester will go towards the Cancer Council.
The mother-daughter duo will have a range of treats for sale, along with daffodils and candles, all for a cause.

Mrs Quinlan’s daughter Talicia White will make personalised Daffodil Day candles for purchase.
Cash donations will also be accepted on the day.
“I was just going to sell some cakes to have extra funds for the Cancer Council, and then the whole town got on board,” Mrs Quinlan said.
“I was offered cakes left, right and centre.
“So, we’re going to have a town morning tea instead.”
Mrs Quinlan and Miss White are looking forward to welcoming the community on Thursday, especially for such an important reason.
“Mum’s always been big on donations and fundraising for causes,” Miss White said.
“So, once I knew she became a florist, there was always going to be something to celebrate in her shop.”
