Q+ Hub is coming to Shepparton as part of the OUTintheOPEN Festival, with a large program of artists from 6pm to 10pm.

Greater Shepparton’s flood relief charity auction and social night
Shepparton Real Estate is hosting a goods and services auction at Shepparton Golf Club to raise funds for the Community Flood Recovery Campaign. There will be live music followed by a huge auction of items donated by local businesses. Event runs from 5.30pm and 10pm.
Jonathan Butler, author of The Boy in the Dress, will talk about his book and experience of researching queer history in Australia, from 10.30 to 11.30am.

Fryers St Food Festival
It’s back. After a two-year lockdown-enforced hiatus, Fryers St, and for the first time Edward St, will be wide open for a gastronomical feast between 4pm and 10pm and will include local restaurants, eateries, producers and a huge array of food trucks. So come and dig in.

Beneath the Wisteria

Beneath the Wisteria is back; back where it once was, in what was Shepparton’s Maude St Mall.
The regular monthly meetings of the group were interrupted, at first by COVID-19 and then the reconstruction of the mall area.
The COVID-19 crisis has eased significantly and the rebuilt street is now partly open, meaning the group can gather, at least in theory, Beneath the Wisteria.
And that “back in the mall” gathering on Saturday, November 5 will feature the Liberal Party candidate for the Victorian seat of Shepparton in the November 26 election, Cheryl Hammer.
Ms Hammer, who is contesting the election with the incumbent, Suzanna Sheed, and former City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe, will talk about what she would personally bring to the electorate, what electing the Liberal Party would mean for Shepparton and, in line with interests of the group, talk about personal and party values in relation to climate change.
The gathering, which will be at the northern end of the former mall, starts at 11am, lasts for about an hour, is free and although there is some public seating in Maude St, people are advised to bring a folding chair.
The group has been meeting beneath another wisteria in the Chinese Gardens, in Shepparton’s Monash Park, but the convenor, Robert McLean, is pleased to be back close to the original site.

Transmansplaining
Transmansplaining is an original one-man stage show based on the experiences of Ben, a self-described “short, balding, bearded, gay, trans man”.
Using humour, storytelling and intimate disclosures, he reveals his unique perspective on life as a transgender man.
Combining his skills as a natural raconteur and comic, with the passion of a social justice activist, Ben shares his poignant and often humorous observations about life pre- and post-transition.
Transmansplaining reveals the story behind the man behind the beard. For audiences aged 15+.
