Campaspe Shire Council will place waste skips across the municipality to collect Easter campers’ waste.
Four waste skip bins will be placed around popular camping towns in Campaspe Shire to reduce littering and provide easy waste disposal for campers.
Mayor Rob Amos said the skips were a convenient and environmentally friendly way for campers to dispose of their waste.
“It’s important that the council provide skip bins for campers to make waste disposal while camping easy and encourage tourists to help keep our public spaces, bushlands and waterways free of litter,” he said.
Waste skip bins will be placed at the Echuca East Boat Ramp, Victoria Park in Echuca, the Torrumbarry Roadhouse and the Gunbower Recreation Reserve.
“If the skips are full, campers can dispose of their bagged waste and recyclables at one of council’s resource recovery centres around the shire,” Cr Amos said.
“These skips are for campers’ waste only, in an effort to keep our environment clean from litter.
“To ensure ongoing capacity for campers, these skips are not for residential waste.
“Thank you for not leaving your waste on the ground next to the skips and helping keep Campaspe clean and free of litter.”
Resource recovery centre locations and opening hours can be found on council’s website.
