Violet Coco will be the guest at the Saturday, July 31, gathering of those who meet each month Beneath the Wisteria.
The activist, who was studying philosophy, before committing herself to the ideals of XR, spent seven days in a Canberra jail after protesting about the Federal Government’s 2021 Budget.
Ms Coco was offered bail, but rejected the offer as it meant surrendering her values and her right to protest.
This Saturday, July 31, event starts at 11 am, is free, and lasts for about an hour. There will be ample time for Q&A and it can be accessed via Zoom.
Ms Coco had considered joining other organisations, but felt their focus was too narrow, while XR was all-encompassing and tackled the fundamentals of the climate crisis.

Ms Coco and two of her fellow XR protestors can be heard during an interview on podcast, Climate Conversations.
