Leading Senior Constable Barry McLeod said eight separate cars were stolen from over a three-hour period in Kyabram on Tuesday, January 27.
Thieves targeted valuable items including power tools, cash and personal belongings left visible in vehicles.
The thefts occurred between 1am and 4am on Dawes Rd, Jacaranda Ave, Rogers St and Tulloh St.
Leading Sen Constable McLeod said the common thread was that all vehicles were left unlocked, with no signs of forced entry.
He described the crimes as “opportunistic” and urged residents to secure their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables visible overnight.
“We’re asking the community to be vigilant,” he said.
Leading Sen Constable McLeod said police were looking for a silver Toyota SUV believed to be involved in the thefts.
He urged Kyabram residents to review any dashcam or CCTV footage from between 1am and 4am on January 27.
