The Deni North team comprising Alyssa Hawley, Amy Doherty, Brydey Maher and Enzo Sztejman defeated Coolamon Central School in round one of the Riverina Regional Debating finals late last month.
The team demonstrated excellent structure, well-developed ideas and rebuttals as part of their winning performance.
North were tasked with debating the negative of the topic ‘‘That students in Year 5 and 6 should vote to decide which books and films they study“.
Amy Doherty attended the Riverina Debating trials for Deni North School.
Also in August, Amy participated in the Riverina debating trials to vie for a position in the Riverina Team.
She gained selection as a result of her performance, and will represent the Riverina at the State Debating Championships in Sydney later this term.
Students from all over the Riverina tried out, and were required to complete four hours of debating trails to gain selection.
North School would like to thank Tony Davis for providing his expertise, and Henty Public School for hosting the trials.
