It plans to rebuild, repair and resurface roads across the north-east as part of its regional road maintenance blitz.
Between now and June 2024, crews will deliver major patching works across some of the region’s busiest and most important trade and travel routes, including sections of the:
- Goulburn Valley Hwy;
- Midland Hwy;
- Murchison-Violet Town Rd;
- Tatura-Undera Rd;
- Echuca-Mooroopna Rd;
- Benalla-Yarrawonga Rd.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said across Victoria, hundreds of thousands of road maintenance projects would be delivered, thousands of potholes would be patched, tens of thousands of kilometres of roadside grass would be mowed and tens of thousands of signs would be replaced.
“Last year was one of Victoria’s wettest years on record and it’s caused unprecedented damage to roads right across the state,” Ms Symes said.
“That’s why we’re investing $6.6 billion as part of a 10-year maintenance masterplan for Victoria’s roads.
“We’re repairing and rebuilding roads regional Victorians rely on most, including roads across the north-east.
“Whether you’re a local or a visitor exploring all the north-east has to offer, these works will ensure your journey is smoother, safer and more reliable.”
The blitz will also ensure other vital parts of the road network are well maintained, including strengthening bridges, rebuilding culverts and retaining walls and inspecting and maintaining thousands of traffic lights, signs and other structures.
