The holiday season is a time of giving, and that’s something the students of St Michael’s Parish School are not short of understanding.
Before school finished up last week they sent Christmas cards to the residents of Navorina Nursing Home, spreading warmth and joy during a time when many people feel lonely and isolated.
The cards were either hand made or coloured in by the students.
This year the students had chosen to colour cards that related to an Aussie Christmas, with some of the images depicting elves in front of the Sydney Opera House and koalas in Santa suits.
And it was not only the residents who were granted a special gift from the St Michael’s students.
The staff also received a card which thanked them “for the work that you do in caring for the residents”.
The kind gesture has become a heart-warming tradition between the school and age care centre over the past few years, and it never fails to put a smile on the residents’ faces.
