Mr McCarroll, who has had an extensive career in the transport industry in Greater Shepparton, has late stage cancer.
So Morgan Bulk Transport has organised a ‘Gee up Johnno Day’ bringing together Mr McCarroll's friends, family and colleagues for a drive-by past his house in Shepparton.
Longstanding friend and former colleague Tom Jones from AJS Motorcycles said Mr McCarroll was loved by many as a hard working, clever mechanic.
“He’s a good character, people love him and think he's a fantastic bloke,” he said.
“That’ll be shown with the amount of of people that'll be there today.
``He’s been in the transport industry all his life.”
Mr McCarroll has also been heavily involved in raising money for charity, most notably the Variety Bash, which he has contributed to for 15 years.
Fellow Variety Bash organiser Peter Foott said together they had raised between $15,000 and $18,000 a year on average for the past 11 years.
Morgan Bulk Transport's Jim Morgan said a group of industry people would gather at Florence St, while observing COVID-19 restrictions, about 11.15 am on Friday morning to drive in a 40 to 50-strong convoy of bob-tails past Mr McCarroll's house.
Mr McCarroll will be able to see the procession as it passes by.
