A gathering next week will remind Goulburn Valley’s amputees they are not alone as they go through their limb loss journey.
Not-for-profit charity Limbs 4 Life is holding a series of face-to-face gatherings throughout Victoria during February, including one in Shepparton on February 4.
Hosted by Limbs 4 Life chief executive Melissa Noonan and Amputee Empowerment Project project manager Mike Rolls, the sessions will support the development of locally-based support groups across Victoria.
Mr Rolls said the aim of the project was to establish a safe, supportive and empowering network of local support groups around the state, where amputees can connect, share and learn from one another.
The peak body for amputees in Australia, Limb 4 Life, would like to hear from amputees, learn about the gaps in information and services, and how the needs of amputees can best be met.
“Our goal for these information sessions is to bring together members of our community (their partners/carers) and provide a platform for learning and sharing information,” Ms Noonan said.
“Over the next two years we look forward to delivering these events around regional Victoria.”
“I can’t wait to meet amputees throughout Victoria at the Amputee Empowerment Project information sessions.”
The Shepparton meeting will be held at Quality Hotel Parklake at 481 Wyndham St, on February 4 from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
