“I started my theatrical exploits at Riverlinks as a kid so I’ve come full circle,” Thompson said.
“It feels right to be kicking off our regional tour in my home town.”
This tour is the third act of Chocolate Starfish’s classic album trilogy, having toured an ode to Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell in 2017 and INXS’s KICK in 2018.
Audiences can expect all the music from the recent movie Bohemian Rhapsody as well as a dozen other Queen hits.
Chocolate Starfish will be putting its own twist on the songs and Thompson has four outfits planned with lots of “bling, sparkle and fringe, the themes are gold and silver”.
Between songs, Thompson will tell stories about what life was like growing up in Shepparton and the personal relevance Queen’s music had on his career.
Being part of Shepparton Theatre Arts Group back in the mid to late 1980s really developed Thompson's passion and love for performance.
“It was a great field for experimentation,” he said.
Chocolate Starfish will be performing at the Eastbank Centre, Shepparton on Friday, February 7 next year.
