Every BMW technician is trained specifically to service, diagnose and repair BMW cars.
“Every BMW technician is trained by specialists,” Mr Smith said.
“It’s hundreds of hours of training to handle the diagnostic equipment.”
Mr Smith started as an apprentice with BMW almost nine years ago, and has since become a senior technician. He’s now working towards becoming a master technician.
“Our updating of knowledge never ends, so the job never gets stale.”
As the company moves towards more electric vehicles, Mr Smith said the technicians become more and more specialised.
“I’ve always been a piston and cranks mechanic,” he said.
“But the more I’ve been dealing with them [electric cars], I’m getting really excited.”
Each car that’s ordered into the dealership gets a once over by the diagnostic team.
“We make sure every car is perfect before it leaves the dealership,” Mr Smith said.
