Campaspe Shire Council approved 37 Community Equipment Grant applications, totalling $63,273 in funding to be delivered to the community, $2000 of which has been assigned to the Rochester Business Network.
Rochester Business Network president Glenda Nichol notified members of their application’s success at one of their recent meetings.
The RBN applied for $2000 to purchase a portable PA system and sandwich boards to be used by RBN members and the wider community, with the Rochester Mural Festival the first to use the new equipment over the weekend.
Mrs Nichol said she was grateful to council for making the funds available to purchase something that would be so useful.
Mayor Chrissy Weller said the purpose of the one-off grant program was to assist community groups and sporting clubs to purchase equipment for their programs and activities.
“We were so pleased to be able to distribute this funding to so many worthy community groups and organisations,” she said.
“From all corners of the shire, community groups will receive welcome boosts to their activities.
“Maybe it’s equipment they’ve required for some time and haven’t been able to afford, or an extra luxury that will make operations run smoother.
“We look forward to seeing the new jerseys running around, new mowers keeping the lawns neat and new footballs being booted at training!”
