Reef Wereta has taken honours is what has been described as “one of the best” Mathoura Speed Shears since the annual cancer charity event was established.

Coordinator Anne Robertson said after being forced into a two year hiatus by COVID-19, and a deferment this year due to floods, it was great to be back in action.
“We had at least 450 people in attendance, and maybe up to 500,” she said.
“The weather was great - Mother Nature was really looking out for us.
“The Mathoura Football Netball Club ran the bar and canteen, and we sold out of all the singlets we had with us at the Mathoura Recreation Reserve.
“We had 12 market stalls participate too, which gave spectators a lot to do.
“It was a fantastic day, and the feedback has been positive all round.
“Everything went in our favour.”
Gate takings, which are donated to the Mathoura Bra Fence cancer charity, came to $800.
