Just like the Australian Test opener, Ryan carved up with the bat to blast 97 against a wily Northerners attack to carry his Redbacks over the line on Saturday.
Heading in to bat after winning the toss, the Jets looked in fine touch as they toiled away in the middle to post a formidable 197, which was bolstered by a half century from Shane Lines and contributions from Paul Bollard (26) and Mitch Wilcox (22).
Gavin Canute was the on song with the ball for the Redbacks, taking three wickets, while Michael Rosser and Chris Usher took two apiece to back up his stellar performance.
Staring down a hefty run chase, the Redbacks founds their groove after losing two early wickets as Ryan began his onslaught.
Paired with Canute, who stood not out at the finish, Kyabram’s second drop blasted a whopping 15 boundaries and three maximums, only to be caught and bowled by Jason Lakeman three runs short of a magnificent ton.
But with the heavy lifting all but done, the Redbacks kept their nerve to steam home and collect six points, closing the gap on the fourth-placed Jets.
At Vibert Reserve, Karramomus enjoyed another win to sit second on the ladder behind Undera, despite a solid batting display from bottom side Central Park St Brendan’s.
Batting first, Bloods number three Rohan Storey tonked 90 not out to steer his side to 4-204 from 40 overs, leaving plenty of runs to made for the Tigers.
A gritty 62 from Travis Beck and Stephen Bolton’s unbeaten 32 breathed life into Central Park's chances, but a taut Bloods bowling arrangement strangled the Tigers’ chase to leave them at 6-166.
Invergordon’s run of form continued after romping past Waaia on Saturday, which came off the back off a top notch victory against league leader Undera the week prior.
The Bombers could only manage a measly 45 as the Hawks’ Jesse Caldera scythed through their order, taking 5-15 off seven overs.
Billy Bagley did most of Invergordon’s legwork before being ousted on 32, leaving Pat Riordan and Cody James the honour of sending the Hawks into third spot on the table.
