Police have arrested five people after executing a series of search warrants across the region.

On Wednesday, May 7, detectives from the Cobram and Wangarrata Crime Investigations Unit, assisted by the Highway Patrol and Critical Incident Response Team and Dog Squad, carried out five search warrants across the state’s north-east.
During a warrant at a property in Cobram, Detectives seized an imitation longarm along with other weapons, drugs and ammunition.
A 23-year-old Cobram woman was charged with traffic methamphetamine, traffic cocaine, possess prohibited weapon (taser) and possess imitation firearm.
She was bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 19.
A 37-year-old Cobram man was arrested and charged with traffic commercial quantity methamphetamine, traffic cocaine, traffic firearms and conduct endangering life.
He was remanded to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 7.
Further afield, police also arrested two men and one woman in Wangaratta.
Since investigations began in 2023, police have arrested 30 people, seized 18 firearms and more than $1 million worth of illicit drugs.

Eastern Region Division Four Detective Inspector Anthony Town said the latest arrests marked the most substantial blows on alleged drug and firearms traffickers in the region recently.
“We’ve significantly disrupted an alleged criminal network operating right in our own backyard,” Det Insp Town said.
“This wasn’t a matter of chance — it’s the result of relentless investigative work by our detectives in Wangaratta and Cobram.
“Organised crime groups trafficking drugs and firearms have no place in our community. They put lives at risk, fuel violence, and we’re determined to stop them.
“This outcome sends a clear message — we will continue to go after those who think they can profit from harm, and we won’t stop until every link in the chain is broken.”
Investigations are ongoing.
Police have provided video footage of the two Cobram arrests, as well as a 32-year-old Wangaratta man who was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of MDMA, possessing a traffickable quantity of firearms, and two counts of owning a handgun without licence.
