Parliament prize opens for 2024

Students are invited to share their opinion on issues important to them for a chance to win big.

The Parliament of Victoria’s annual Parliament Prize competition is now open for entries, and state Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad is encouraging students from Years 5-12 to seize the opportunity.

The competition is not just a platform for young minds to have their voice heard on issues that matter to them, but also a chance to win $500 for themselves and $1000 for their school.

So, what’s the task at hand?

“All students need to do is submit a video of themselves presenting a Member’s Statement,” Ms Broad said.

“A Member’s Statement is an opportunity for elected members to make a brief statement in State Parliament on matters of interest or concern to them and the people living in their electorate. It can be up to 90 seconds long.

“Students entering the competition can record themselves or use an animated avatar if they prefer.

“This is a great project for students to undertake on their own or complete as a class project with their teacher.”

Entries close on Friday, June 14.
