Shepparton will soon be home to a new American and Australian-style eatery, with Lazy Moe’s set to open in time for summer.
The chain has restaurants in Bendigo, Ballarat and five other stores across Melbourne, but it marks a return home of sorts for Kyabram-born co-owner Michael Guida.
He co-owns and operates the business with his wife, Lucy, who said she was excited to open the chain’s first store in six years and first in the Goulburn Valley.
Mrs Guida said they were hoping to open by the end of October, coronavirus restrictions or hiccups pending.
The restaurant, on Wyndham St, will have space for up to 120 diners at a time, and the entrance will be set back for undercover dining.

The restaurant will be open from 7 am through to late.
Mrs Guida said the Shepparton venture had been a long time coming.
“We have a house at Kirwan’s Bridge and whenever we come into Shepparton and see people or meet people and they find out what we do, they ask when we’re coming up,” she said.
“We’re finally here. We were going to come up last year just before the long lockdown but we put that on hold and were lucky enough the same building was available this year.”
She said while going in and out of lockdown was frustrating to her as a business owner, she said the country was approaching the point where it would have to learn to live with the virus.
“We’re not worried [about lockdowns], because eventually we’ve got to get to a point where we get back to normal,” Mrs Guida said.
“It will eventually get there, it might take a few years but it’ll get there.”
