Numurkah District Health Service has won the Premier’s Small Health Service of the Year Award.
“We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises excellence, dedication and innovation in health services,” Nathalia, Cobram and Numurkah Health chief executive Jacque Phillips said.
“It is wonderful to be acknowledged as an organisation that is leading the way in health services across the state.
“I wish to congratulate staff for their hard work and outstanding efforts, and for continuing to provide excellent healthcare to our community.”
The award is a part of the 2019 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards.
NDHS operates with 239 staff and 83 volunteers.
After recovering from flood damage in 2012 the service was hit hard again with major wildfires not two years later.
With enormous effort the NDHS was finally rebuilt and reopened in 2015.
Since then it has been kicking goals.
It has led several innovative projects to engage with consumers in health promotion and to enhance healthcare experiences, including a dairy industry project, a school cooking project, More4Moira and the Urgent Care Centre project.
NDHS engaged a range of partnerships to deliver services to meet community needs, including mental health and respiratory services.
It partnered with Cobram District Health and Nathalia District Hospital earlier this year to enhance access to health care for local communities, forming NCN Health.
NDHS also partnered with the Studer Group to implement ‘Strive’ — the organisation’s strategic direction, leadership and culture program.
Results from the recent People Matter Survey reflect the program’s success.
NDHS was also a finalist for the Minister for Mental Health’s award for excellence in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Victorians for its Dairy Industry and Support project.
