City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali urged residents to submit nominations.
“This award is not just about one moment or achievement, it is to recognise women who consistently uplift others in our community,” he said.
“Your nomination can make a difference to someone and remind them that their efforts are seen and valued.”
The award, initiated by the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee, focuses on gender equity, diversity and women’s active citizenship.
Committee chair Cr Sam Spinks emphasised the importance of recognising women’s contributions.
“Every day, women are leading, supporting, creating and advocating in ways that strengthen our region and improve the lives around them,” she said.
Chelsea Sofra, the 2024 recipient, was recognised for her work at Goulburn Valley Health, leadership in trauma-informed services and contributions to Indigenous youth programs.
The 2025 award will be presented in partnership with Soroptimists International of Shepparton on Sunday, September 14.
Nominations can be submitted via shepp.city/womensaward before 4pm on August 1.
