An aquatic harvester boat cuts the plant below the surface and stores the cut material on board for later disposal. Some minor offcuts may wash up on the banks during the works; however, these will be removed by Greater Shepparton City Council staff.
To ensure the maintenance takes place efficiently and safely, the lake will be closed for all public use between 6am and 6pm during this period. Surrounding open space areas and playgrounds will remain open and will not be affected by the works.
Council said it had worked with user groups to advise of the works and minimise interruptions. For further information, contact council on (03) 5832 9700.

Feedback wanted on lease of land to Kids Under Cover
Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback regarding its intention to enter into a lease with Kids Under Cover for land at 20-22 Perrivale Dve, Shepparton.
Council received an inquiry from Kids Under Cover requesting the lease of this land to construct a “Village 21” model for six young people, between the ages of 18 and 21, who have exited foster care.
Village 21 aims to create strong connections back to the community and teaches skills in self-sufficiency. The proposal includes building a communal building with a kitchen, living room and laundry, three two-bedroom studios with a bathroom and two one-bedroom studios for live-in mentors, and communal outdoor spaces. Village 21 will support activities such as cooking, maintaining shared gardens and learning life skills.
Council is undertaking community consultation until Monday, October 31.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will be in Shepparton on Tuesday, October 18.
Featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 the program also includes Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night's Dream: Overture and Paul Stanhope’s Spin Dance, and will feature one of Australia’s most promising young conductors, Carlo Antonioli.
Talented: Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conductor Carlo Antonioli.
“The MSO is one of our most popular performances,” Riverlinks venues manager Ken Cameron said.

Keep an eye out for motorcyclists
Drivers and motorcyclists are being urged to look out for each other and share the roads safely, as the number of motorbikes on the roads increases as the weather warms up.
The inaugural Motorcyclist Awareness Month is under way, and aims to remind motorists that road safety is a shared responsibility and that everyone has a role to play in keeping the roads safe.
Traditionally, motorbike travel increases during the warmer and daylight saving months, with more recreational riders on the roads. The increase in rider numbers and distances travelled brings a greater risk of crashes involving motorbikes.
The campaign promotes the importance of drivers being on the lookout for people on motorbikes, and riders ensuring they are visible through safe road positioning and wearing the appropriate protective gear on every ride.
Visit the Motorcyclist Awareness Month Facebook page for more information.
