Deniliquin Police have assured the local community they are committed to investigating, disrupting and responding to crime to keep our community safe.
“We also want to make sure the business community has the tools to self-assess their business and make it harder for offenders by identifying opportunities to strengthen security and increase their crime prevention awareness,” a police spokesperson said.
Police are rolling out a new program to work with business owners and operators in Deniliquin.
Called ‘Protect Your Business’, it is about talking to business owners and operators about crime prevention and providing a handy booklet that covers a range of business types with the aim of giving owners and operators the tools to assess their security and processes.
Police said out of this assessment, if there are opportunities to further strengthen security and internal processes, this is a great step on the way to making it harder for offenders to impact the business community in Deniliquin.
Starting this month, Deniliquin Sergeant Morgan Hadjialexiou will be visiting businesses in Deniliquin to talk about crime prevention, business security and provide the ‘Project Your Business’ booklet to business owners and operators in the town.
“This new program is about having conversations with business owners and operators about ways to increase security at their business premises across a range of crime types, not just break-ins,” the police spokesperson said.
“The main aim in increasing security at your business is to increase the risk of the offender being caught or identified, to increase the effort it takes to commit the offence and to reduce the rewards received by carrying out the offence.”
