The new playground will replace the previous one, located behind the Kerrabee Soundshell, that was damaged during the 2022 floods.
A Murray River Council spokesperson said the playground was part of the Meninya St South Precinct Master Plan.
The project was identified as a priority several years ago following community consultation, where residents highlighted the need for better play facilities in Moama.
A Murray River Council spokesperson said the new playground would give families more to do in town.
“By relocating the playground to the skate park area, the project will deliver improved accessibility, natural play elements and creative play opportunities, allowing families to enjoy a variety of activities in one central location,” they said.
Construction started in April and is expected to be completed in July 2025, with the new playground anticipated to open to the public in August 2025.
The project also aligns with stage one of the playground upgrades, which was supported by the NSW Everyone Can Play program.
