New business urging people to Eatie Eatie Taiwanese cuisine

In Australia’s wonderfully crowded and diverse restaurant and takeaway scene Taiwanese cuisine is something of a rarity.

That’s no longer the case, though, for Mooroopna and Greater Shepparton residents looking for a quick, but different, option.

Eatie Eatie has been opened in Mooroopna by Emma and Li ya Lin, and the sisters are hoping to open the eyes of the region to another Asian flavour.

Originally from Taiwan, the sisters are offering customers a varied Asian menu, including sushi, while also introducing locals to some of the delights of Taiwan.

“It’s mixed Asian, it’s a mix,” Emma said.

“We mix some Japanese with Vietnamese and Taiwanese, and, like Vietnamese roll, we have Vietnamese roll, but we have pork, which we cook the Chinese way.

“It’s a bit different. I’m Taiwanese so I make some different things.”

Emma said the Taiwanese style of cooking was not known in the area, so at Eatie Eatie they had decided to blend different menus as people became accustomed to dishes from their homeland.

“Most people, who live in Mooroopna, they don’t know much about food from Taiwan so it’s a bit hard to start it, and we are making something different,” Emma said.

Eatie Eatie at 3 O’Brien St, Mooroopna, has only been open for a few weeks, but Emma said business was “getting better”.

It is open seven days a week between 10.30am and 5pm, except on Sundays and Mondays, when it closes at 2pm.
