The round three clash between Cobram-Yarroweyah United and Deniliquin was certainly more of a batsman's paradise than a bowler's playground, with eight players getting healthy starts across the one-day fixture.
Deniliquin captain Brad Todd won the toss and elected to take first use of the pitch and although he could not recreate the previous week's heroics the rest of his top order stood tall.
Fellow opener Dean Edge hit 83, first-drop Ash Germano made it to 39 and Andrew Hogan whacked 76 to set up a brilliant total for the Rhinos.
When Liam Pitts added a quick-fire 46 not out down the order it allowed the side to reach 7-282 from its 45 overs.
The combine did its best to get close in the chase — with Kieran Andrew (87) and Joel Ashcroft (39) — leading the way, but despite managing a competitive total of 6-212, it was still well short of what was required for victory.
Pitts was the pick of the Deniliquin bowlers with 2-24, while Ayden Latessa (2-44) and Jack Andrew (2-50) worked hard for the home side.
● Barooga bowlers had much more fun at Tocumwal Recreation Reserve, restricting the home side to 9-88 before motoring through the chase.
Riley Gow (3-14), Justin Maley (2-10) and Joel Cahir (2-13) all bowled their full allotment of nine overs for the Hawks and had the Bloods in all sorts of trouble.
Tocumwal's top order collapsed to be 3-10 and 7-40 before a rearguard action from Andrew Jones (36 not out) helped to put some meat on the bones of the total.
Daniel Ellis (29 not out), Jamie Stanyer (27) and Maley (19 not out) made light work of the required runs and had Barooga sipping victory champagne within 14 overs for the loss of one wicket.
● Katamatite held its nerve in a middling chase against Nathalia to secure victory, despite losing clumps of wickets in its innings.
The home side at Nathalia Recreation Reserve had earlier reached 7-157 thanks to the middle-order prowess of Shannon Young (34), Aaron Harding (26) and Phil Carroll (37 not out), but the Tigers were well in control early in their reply.
Andrew Erickson (35) and Jamie Magowan (37) moved the total to 74 without loss before a trio of wickets fell in quick succession.
Sam Dorsey (29) and Brayden Beaton (26) steadied the ship, but again Nathalia claimed a pair of victims for just one run to send some nerves jangling, but Tom Casha (15 not out) and Shannon Pool (seven not out) were able to see the Tigers home with 13 deliveries remaining.
Harding (2-40) led the way with the ball for the Purples, with Dorsey (3-27) and Beaton (3-33) putting on a show earlier in the day.
