I was born in this region and want to represent all our residents, including the outlying properties, not just the towns and villages, as part of the Murray River Council.
Living in this vibrant and thriving community, in the best region of Australia, has motivated me to give back to our amazing residents.
I will represent all the Greater Murray Ward with honesty and without fear or favour.
My leadership skills and knowledge in this area and beyond are lifelong and extensive.
I have business experience, education, and acted in executive positions on many community organisations.
Council’s greatest strengths: The community, for its diverse economy in farming, small and large business, tourism, sporting facilities, and all aspects of this great region; the Murray River on our doorstep, a major draw card for tourism and local sporting and leisure activities; the valued staff at our council who work for the residents of the shire, and who are residents within this shire. To be active and interested in supporting, and maintaining, these assets is a major priority for our council.
Council’s major challenges: The increase in rates is an issue of concern for many ratepayers. The council needs to operate within its financial means. Sound financial management must be a priority. We have a large area to represent, with our shire encompassing farming tourism and agricultural interests, we must ensure financial sustainability.
If you were to serve as an MRC for the next term, success would be: A united council that is recognised for its achievements and is the envy of the state. To ensure that every dollar spent benefits the residents directly. Preserving and enhancing what we already have, progressing the wonderful assets that our community offers. Having a committed, balanced and passionate voice in our council.
The leadership qualities or skills I possess to take on the role as councillor: A fresh perspective and experienced voice. Informed decision making. Recognised community involvement. Actively being an advocate and voice for rural heath for 15 years. A solid background in business and rural education. My experience on state and local community committees as an executive member. Excellent communication skills.
