The Mooroopna product has been selected for North East Blaze in its 19-and-under line-up for the 2020 season, in what was a major development in her young career.
It comes off the back of a terrific season on the court for her Goulburn Valley League club, with Lloyd earning her first call-up to the A-grade side during the season.
Lloyd, 17, was excited by the announcement and revealed how she found out she had secured a spot on the Blaze's roster.
“We were actually on our way to Uluru for a family holiday and I was sitting in this roadhouse when I got the phone call,” she said with a laugh.
“I was pretty nervous, but really excited when I found out.
“It was very unexpected because I hadn't actually trialled with them.
Because of the family trip to the Northern Territory, Lloyd's father Troy sent through some vision of her playing for the Cats and the scouts liked what they saw.
“I was meant to go to trials, but because I went away Dad had to send through some videos and then I got the call,” she said.
Lloyd's height has seen her ply her trade in the attacking circle for most of her netball journey, regarded as a fearsome goal shooter at junior level.
Lloyd credited her rise up the ranks to senior netball to coach Di Hanslow.
The emerging shooter followed Hanslow across from Shepparton United to the Cattery in what was an "amazing move''.
“It's been massive, she (Hanslow) has been a big influence on me,” Lloyd said.
“Without Di I don't think I would have got this opportunity.
“Her coaching ability is amazing and she always is able to get the best out of me.”
Lloyd also thanked her parents.
“Mum and Dad have been amazing,” she said.
“Mum always finds time to drive me and Dad always pushes me and motivates me like nobody else can.”
As well as plenty of support, Lloyd spends most of her time practising and improving her shooting technique and skills - trying to shoot 200 times at goal a day.
It was a training drill she learnt at a clinic in Melbourne and was something she tried to achieve.
“In Melbourne they said, 'an elite athlete shoots 200 goals a day', so I try and work on that as much as I can,” she said.
“It doesn't take too long to finish, it's more finding the motivation to get out and start.
“I just try and get out as much as I can to improve and become better.”
