Moira Shire Council chair administrator Dr Graeme Emonson welcomed the expansion, saying the addition of the 82 occupations means local businesses will have greater access to skilled workers, helping them to grow, innovate, and continue contributing to the region's prosperity.
“This program is not about replacing local workers—it's about filling gaps where businesses can't find the skills they need locally,” Dr Emonson said.
Local employers can learn about accessing the program at a free information session at the Cobram Civic Centre on Wednesday, June 11 from 9.30am–11am.
There will be additional information sessions in Echuca and Shepparton.
The session will showcase presentations from government agencies like the Department of Home Affairs and deliver practical guidance on program participation.
Launched in 2021, the GV DAMA represents a joint venture between Moira Shire Council, Greater Shepparton City Council, and Campaspe Shire Council.
The initiative allows local enterprises to sponsor skilled migrants when local talent is unavailable.
The program has proven successful since its establishment, helping numerous businesses secure skilled international workers who enhance both industry capabilities and community growth.
