Donnelly and wife Liz — who directed for her husband at the tournament — went to Perth as part of Victoria’s team for the event and came home with three medals, two silvers and a bronze.
‘‘I was rapt actually, I only entered in three events and won medals in all three,’’ Donnelly said.
‘‘The best vision impaired bowlers in Australia get together and play against each other, it’s a big deal.
‘‘It’s probably the best I’ve ever done, I didn’t win a gold obviously, but to medal in every event was pretty good.’’
One of Donnelly’s silvers came in extremely uncommon fashion after he failed to score in the final of the B3 singles event — but the Goulburn Valley local certainly saw the funny side of it.
‘‘The bloke who beat me in the singles actually whitewashed me,’’ Donnelly said.
‘‘I knew he liked long ends, so when he won the toss I thought ‘I’ll go short when I get the mat’.
‘‘But I never bloody got the mat.’’
Donnelly also snared silver in the B4 open pairs as well as bronze in the mixed pairs.
‘‘I have to give a big thank you to my wife,’’ Donnelly said.
‘‘She’s not even a bowler, but gave me some great direction.’’
