Evans will kick off his 250km journey when he departs from Up There Athletics in Melbourne, running through the city before hitting the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail and heading north.
Speaking less than 24 hours before his departure, Mr Evans said he was excited and keen to get going on the run after 12 months of planning.
“I’m feeling good, I’m really excited to get started,” Mr Evans said.
“It’s been a long time coming and I’m hoping it all goes nice and smoothly.”
Mr Evans is raising money for the Snowdome Foundation, a charity which helps accelerate new therapies and bring treatment to Australian blood cancer patients to let them live longer, better lives.
Snowdome has a special connection with Evans and his family.
His mother, Sally, sadly passed away in 2016 having lived with myeloma — an, incurable type of blood cancer — for 19 years.
Mr Evans said he had been amazed by the support and donations he had received so far, with tens of thousands of dollars raised.
“We are very close to the $75,000 mark, which was a stretch target that we were hoping to achieve,” he said.
“It would be great to continue and push forward and close in on $100,000, if we can.”
Mr Evans said he knows he will face challenges along the way, but he said he had a great team behind him to help him through it.
“There will be periods when I have to pick myself off the canvas and keep pushing forwards,” he said
“I know there are periods when you do things like this that you’ll face some mental challenges, I’m grateful to have a support team with me the whole way, I’ll be leaning on them over those periods, definitely.”
His support staff will be lead by his grandfather as team skipper, with close friends joining him as well.
Mr Evans plans on finishing the journey in just four days, running the equivalent of just under six marathons over that stretch.
He should reach the finish line at the Port of Echuca around 11.30am on Saturday, but not before making a special visit along the way.
“The plan will be to run past Mum in the cemetery,” Mr Evans said.
He will cross the line with his father, Richard, brother, Hugh and sister, Georgie.
Mr Evans will also run past some of his major sponsors — Moama Bowling Club, Spot On Dry Cleaning, Worklocker, The Caledonian, Evans Shoes and the American Hotel.
