Each year, council drafts a budget to show how resources will be used to provide key services and infrastructure for the next financial year.
This year, council took early steps to engage with the community, seeking their insights and priorities for the 2024/2025 financial year during late 2023 consultations.
The feedback from this consultation helped inform the development of the 2024/2025 Draft Budget, which is now available for the community’s review.
Council provides over 120 services, including children and family services, parks, urban planning, community and leisure facilities, and more.
The Draft Budget outlines the funding needed to deliver these services and maintain community infrastructure for years to come.
The 2024/2025 Draft Budget includes a $64.82 million capital works program, prioritising the renewal and upgrade of the region’s existing assets.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali emphasised how important community feedback is during the development of the annual Budget document.
“I encourage everyone to have a read of the 2024/2025 Draft Budget and provide their feedback. Council values the ideas and suggestions of residents, especially in regards to the budget, as this document affects the entire municipality,” he said.
“We heard from residents early in the development phase to help shape the draft document, and now we want to know what they think.”
Feedback closes at 5pm on Friday, May 31, 2024.
The Budget will be endorsed at a council meeting in June 2024.
