Holman, who was delisted by Carlton at the end of 2015, scratched and clawed his way back onto Gold Coast's rookie list in 2018, played every game that season before another 12 games in 2019, but a back injury cost him the second half of his season.
Out of contract at the season's end, the former Bomber was worried his time in the AFL might be up - but those doubts have been put to bed with his extension.
Holman, who has had a screw inserted in his back to try and sort his stress fracture, told AFL.com.au he was gagging to get back into training.
“When I got injured I got a bit worried about not getting a contract,” he said.
“Other blokes get opportunities and maybe they step ahead of you.
“I reckon the first two years (with Gold Coast) have been finding my way back in the AFL system and now I can start building and help the team succeed.
“I'm pretty much back to where I was before the surgery.
“It's been a long time since I ran, four or five months. I'm itching, ready to go.”
● Former Shepparton star Nik Rokahr is taking his talents to South Australia, having signed with SANFL club Norwood.
