Kids flood Rotary Park for gala day

There were big smiles on the faces of players and spectators alike as they returned to Rotary Park for the Deniliquin & District Soccer winter season kick off on Saturday.

The gala day opened the 2025 soccer season.

It was a chance for players to dust off their boots and don some of the colourful new club shirts.

Spectators enjoyed the beautiful sunshine, delicious treats and hot coffee from the canteen.

Players got to reconnect with their soccer mates and welcome newcomers to the grounds.

Members of the committee were watching the games carefully, and any necessary adjustments have been made during the week for team finalisation.

The official first games on Saturday, May 10.

Gala Day awards:

A-grade: Best On Ground - Daniel Burn, Elliott Loughridge, Lydia Hornung; Sportsmanship - Pippa Wilson, Tim Hanns, Mitchell Thompson, Rocky Sztejman.

B-grade : Best On Ground - Dylan Coyle, Amelia Thompson, Havana Sztejman, Aadi Patel; Sportsmanship - Akira Booby, Archie McKern, Lachlan Gunn, Nash Offord.

C-grade: Best On Ground - Bertie Landale, Warris Gill. Sportsmanship - Timothy Burge, Millie Thompson.

D-grade: Best On Ground - Theo Beal, Belle Hall, Lenny Morris; Sportsmanship - Jennifer Loughridge, Charlie Burge, Axel Doidge, Amelia De Travers.
