Echuca-Moama Twin Rivers Probus Club staged a successful high tea at Echuca Bowls Club on Sunday afternoon.
The event was staged to celebrate Probus Day, which falls annually on October 1.
The club members joined tens of thousands of Probus members across the country in marking the milestone.
Echuca-Moama Twin Rivers Probus Club president Jenny Haines said the high tea was the first opportunity in a few years to stage an event of this magnitude.
“Probus Day started in 2020 with the United Nations’ Day of Older Persons,” Mrs Haines said.
“The day highlights the important contributions older people make to society.
“Due to COVID-19, we hadn’t really had a chance to celebrate Probus Day in this form until this year.
“Everyone was asked to dress to impress and they’ve certainly done that.
“It has been great to do something special.”
Mrs Haines said about 60 people attended the high tea, which featured champagne on arrival and an array of delectable treats.
“The turnout today has been fantastic,” she said.
“Our motto is fun, fellowship and friendship, and you could say today meets each of those three things.”
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the photo display which featured an array of pictures encompassing the two-decade history of the Echuca-Moama Twin Rivers Probus Club.
Emcee Kim Wallace interviewed a number of members and guests, who shared their recollections.
Probus clubs provide retirees the opportunity to socialise with fellow retirees in their local communities, have fun and foster new friendships.
There are more than 1400 Probus clubs across the country.
