Residents of Nagambie and district are invited to provide their ideas for community emergency preparedness at an interactive session next week.
Nagambie will be the fifth community in Strathbogie Shire to create a Local Emergency Action Plan for responding to and recovering from emergencies.
The meeting is to be held on Monday, June 17 at the Mechanic's Institute Hall from 6pm to 8pm, led by John Beresford.
Strathbogie Shire Council administrator Peter Stephenson said this is an opportunity for the Nagambie community to have a say about what is important to them during an emergency, particularly in light of recent flooding.
Emergency service members will attend to share expertise.
“Already, three of our townships—Violet Town, Avenel, and Euroa—have developed their plans,” Mr Stephenson said.
“These plans outline the actions and responsibilities of the community, agencies, and Council during an emergency event through to recovery.”
The plans will be updated annually to ensure they stay relevant and effective.
Mr Stephenson stressed the importance of community members volunteering their knowledge for the Nagambie LEAP document and the ongoing commitment to community resilience.
