More than 400 Year 9 and 10 students from across Echuca and Moama explored future pathways at the 2026 Beacon Careers Expo.

Students from Echuca Twin Rivers, Moama Anglican Grammar, St Joseph’s, Australian Christian College and Echuca College spent the day with representatives from more than 40 local industries.

Project co-ordinator Cath Elms said the event played a vital role in supporting young people as they made important decisions about their future education and career pathways.
“The Careers Expo is about opening students’ eyes to the wide range of opportunities available to them and helping them make informed choices about their futures,” she said.

Representatives from industries including healthcare, trades, hospitality, business, emergency services, agriculture and the arts gathered at Rich River Golf Club for the event.
While many students were familiar with more common industries, they were also introduced to emerging sectors including renewable energy and technology.

A major highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to engage one-on-one with local industry professionals.
The sessions provided valuable insight into the realities of different career paths, along with practical advice on steps students could take to prepare for various roles.

By showcasing both local employment opportunities and growth sectors, the expo aims to support student aspirations while also responding to the future workforce needs of the region.
The Beacon Real Futures Program continues throughout the school year, building partnerships between schools and local businesses and helping students develop the skills, confidence and networks they need to succeed beyond school.
The success of the 2026 expo reflects the ongoing support of local schools, employers and community partners committed to empowering young people and investing in the region’s future.
