Federal Member for Nicholls Damian Drum encouraged all sheds in the Goulburn Valley to apply for round two of the grants.
“Men’s sheds are friendly and inclusive environments where men can work with tools and equipment, or just spend time together, to support each other’s mental and physical health,” he said.
“Our government is committed to ensuring that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, members can stay in touch and continue to provide meaningful contributions to their communities.”
There are three funding categories of up to $8000 on offer - health, wellbeing and events, shed improvements and equipment.
Health and Aged Care Minister Greg Hunt said the nation's more-than 1000 men's sheds were "vital" in maintaining community connection and mental health support.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough for many Australians, and it is vitally important that shed members remained connected to their community during this time,” Mr Hunt said.
There was $500,000 allocated to men's sheds around the nation in the latest round of grants, with $6.4 million provided since 2013.
Of the most recent pool, Seymour, Rushworth and Nagambie's men's sheds received funding of up to $2250 for improvements, first aid training, seminars and equipment.
More recently, the Murchison Men's Shed has been seeking support following the liquidation of its former site at Murchison Neighbourhood House.
Regional Health Minister Mark Coulton said men’s sheds played a "vital role" in regional Australia and were among the "most important" regional organisations.
“Men’s sheds provide a safe and friendly environment for men to gather and work on projects, with the ultimate aim of improving the health and wellbeing of their members,” Mr Coulton said.
“I am also pleased to announce that work will soon begin on the $1.5 million Regional Coordinators for Men’s Sheds Initiative, which helps men’s sheds to connect with local health services and promote health events for their members.”
Regional coordinators will be introduced in every state and territory.
Applications for the next round of men’s sheds grants are open until July 26.
