Footy recruiting update

Tatura has added a major talent to its Goulburn Valley League squad, with Murray Bushrangers’ best and fairest Jimmy Boyer on the move to the kennel.

The former Bulldog junior, who finished third in the NAB League club's best and fairest in 2018, before claiming the top gong last season, will shift from Murray league club Congupna and step up to the GVL level.

But Boyer's availability might be limited, with the talent having penned a contract with North Melbourne's VFL club.

He played 17 senior games with the Road in the past three seasons, kicking 18 goals, along with his 32 games and 14 goals in the NAB League.

Boyer last played for Tatura's juniors in 2015.

Elsewhere, Euroa has signed Albury's Erish Uthayakumar to continue a lively off-season.

Forward Uthayakumar, who kicked 47 goals for the Tigers in 2017 as they made the Ovens and Murray League grand final, has only played eight reserves games in the past two seasons but could be a spark for the Magpies.

Echuca will be without one of its homegrown VFL stars, with Darby Henderson exiting Victoria Park.

Henderson has signed with Geelong Football League club Grovedale, where he will push to add to the four games he played with Williamstown last season.

And Kyabram's Aaron Hayes is also on the move, cleared to Golden Rivers club Nullawil.

Hayes played 112 senior games with the Bombers since 2013 and played in the 2016 and 2017 premierships.

● Murray league recruiting tidbits include the return of Finley's Sam Durnan.

Durnan, who last played for the Cats in 2016, spent last season with Kyabram District club Avenel, where he played 12 senior games.

And Tungamah's Nick Irvine is stepping up in grade, heading to Ovens and Murray powerhouse Yarrawonga.

Irvine, who played 10 Bushies games in the past two seasons as well 23 senior games for the Bears, is joined in moving to his new club by Liam Russell (Mulwala) and Brett Smith (Barooga).

● In the KDL, Avenel has added GVL reserves premiership player and leading goalkicker Max Jones.

Jones slotted 57 goals for Seymour last season, including three in the grand final victory, but after 97 goals in three seasons for the Lions’ reserves is ready to try his hand at the next level.

● And in some AFL chatter, Echuca's Ollie Wines will have a late start to Port Adelaide's campaign after having shoulder surgery on Monday night.

Wines dislocated his shoulder while training last week, but it should be noted the injury is not related to his delayed start to last season, when he hurt his shoulder waterskiing.
