The Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria has urged consumers to reach out now if they need help with their energy and water bills.

EMOV’s consumer insights about the Victorian energy and water services for January to March showed consumers remained concerned about credit collection, billing issues and high bills.

Other complaints included solar products and services, after a recent increase in consumers choosing renewable energy.

Ombudsman Catherine Wolthuizen has urged those in need of help to reach out.

“We are seeing credit and billing cases remaining at a steady high, making up 63 per cent of all the complaints we received during the quarter,” she said.

“Consumers remain price sensitive and concerned about affordability issues.”

Ms Wolthuizen said there were important responsibilities and protections in place to help consumers.

“If you’re having trouble paying your bills, worried you might be disconnected or need help, please contact your energy or water provider for support,” she said.
