Each school chose to mark NSW Public Education Week in their own way, either through normal classroom activities or special events which paid tribute to both students and staff for their efforts.
Education Week is held annually to shine a spotlight on the achievements, diversity, and strength of public education.
This year’s theme was ‘Ignite your potential’, highlighting the transformative power of learning and the unwavering commitment of educators to help every student thrive.
Some schools shared their Education Week activities with the Pastoral Times, as outlined below.
Deniliquin North Public School
Deniliquin North Public School had a special outdoor assembly, with beautiful weather and lots of parents attending last Thursday.
All three stages presented a song and dance, and special Education Week awards were given out to students as chosen by teachers.
Charlotte Gatacre received the Director's Award for Excellence for always going above and beyond to support fellow students at Deniliquin North Public School.

Deniliquin South Public School
Selected students across all grades at Deni South were awarded special Education Week honour cards.
In a special Education Week event, almost 30 students were presented with special honour cards.
Staff members Sandy Clipperton and Ged SMith were also recognised for their “exceptional service and dedication to Deniliquin South Public School”.
Sandy plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the school in the role of school administrative officer, ensuring that every aspect of administration runs efficiently and effectively.
“Her attention to detail, organisational skills, and unwavering support for both staff and students create a positive and productive working environment,” her citation read.
“Sandy's commitment to excellence and collaboration not only enhances our school community but also inspires those around them.”
Ged was rewarded for his “invaluable contribution” as a general assistant.
“With his unwavering dedication and can-do spirit, he goes above and beyond to ensure our facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for all students and staff,” his citation read.
“Ged's skills in maintenance and repair, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving, have significantly supported colleagues.”

Mathoura Public School
Mathoura Public School prides itself on providing students with many opportunities and experiences to express their creativity and explore their talents.
The effort staff and community members play in making this a reality was recognised at the Education Week assembly, with Zowie Crump and Jade Schulz presented with Education Week awards by principal Janice Eddy.
“Zowie's vibrant murals not only enhance the school's aesthetic, but also inspire the entire school community,” the awards citation read.
“This aligns beautifully with the Education Week theme of ‘Ignite your Potential’, as it encourages students to pursue their passions and express themselves.
“Jade empowers students academically and artistically, and is fostering a well-rounded learning environment.
“Promoting sports involvement and an active lifestyle is also crucial for students' physical health and social development.
“Her dedication to advocacy for both her students and peers highlights her commitment to their overall wellbeing.”
