Committee member Hazel Voss said the event would feature expanded activities and more space this year.
“We will be able to accommodate a lot more people, opening up the car park at the Echuca Hotel,” she said.
“To make our event even bigger and better than the last couple of years, we are making it a bit more family inclusive, so we will have face painting, crazy hair stores and stuff for little kids.”
“It should be pretty good for kids and keep them nice and excited.”
The event has attracted up to 700 people in the past two years, raising over $70,000 for local families affected by cancer.
Echuca Moama Shave has 25 participants registered this year.
Currently, 25 participants from Echuca, Moama, Rochester, Kyabram and Mathoura have registered to have their heads shaved, with a notable highlight being two 10-year-olds who are stepping up to shave their heads for the cause.
“We have hit nearly $2500 fundraising at the moment,' Ms Voss said.
“Our goal is to raise $5000, but if we exceed it, we will be pretty happy.”
The event will run from noon to 6pm, with head shaving starting at 12.30pm.
Moama Bakery is supporting the cause by donating proceeds from their Friday, June 20, iced doughnut sales.
“We are auctioning off all of our shavers, so they will be up on stage,” Ms Voss said.
Justin Voss, Hazel's father, will be participating in and serving as the MC for the event, shaving his head for the cause.
“We are auctioning off all our shavers, so they will be up on stage, and we will be like ‘Who wants to shave this person’s head?',” Ms Voss said.
“I reckon I’ll put a few dollars on my dad.”
Organisers would like to thank the Echuca Printers for their assistance with the T-shirts and merchandise available for sale on the day, the Echuca Hotel for their support and the Moama Bakery for all their efforts.
“All our other sponsors, they will get individual thanks on the day, because we have got some amazing auction items that people have donated,” Ms Voss said.
