The River Rats closed out the game after Leah Kerr sunk the game winner, with Isabella Ferguson, Tess Harvey and Ryan Smith among the vote getters.
Later in the day, Echuca's B Women took out a 2-0 victory over SYC with Olivia Mathers and Jenna Park each scoring. The win keeps the River Rats in second place with a round remaining.
Echuca's A Men drew its contest with SYC 3-3. Tayden Monigatti scored twice and Troy Kenny hit the scoreboard once. Kenny was joined in the best by Adam Thomson and Regan More.
Meanwhile, the B Men walked away with the points after SYC forfeited due to low numbers.
In the under 14 clash earlier in the day, Echuca had a big task going up against the top team in SYC.
Led by Tayah Irwin (three goals), the Scorchers continued its searing run this season with a 5-0 defeat of Echuca.
Hamish Ferguson, Montana Spicer and Jack Bateson all scored votes for the River Rats.
Echuca’s Regional Hockey League women's team will return to the pitch for their final game of the season against Eaglehawk on Sunday. The team last played on May 9.
Echuca's men's team will play Loddon Murray.
● FOUR of Echuca’s best hockey players have been chosen to represent Hockey Victoria Country at this year's Australian Country Championships.
Jayden Gulson was announced as one of 18 players in Vic Country men’s squad, while Kari Gulson and Jorgie Wright were both selected in the women’s squad.
Abbey Mathers is included as a train-on, with one of the spots on the women's squad to be confirmed.
The two teams will head northbound to Cairns in August in the quest for championship success after the event was moved from Western Australia.
