The Echuca East Primary School girls’ soccer team has cemented its place in the state football competition after taking out the Loddon Mallee region finals.
On Thursday, August 8, the team headed to Swan Hill for regional finals where it successfully qualified for the state competition along with Kennington Primary School.
The girls will travel down to Melbourne to play at the Darebin International Sports Centre in Thornbury on Wednesday, September 4.
There, they will join 15 other teams from the eight school sport regions. They are set to face Ballarat Primary School and Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School, with their third opponent yet to be determined.
The school is grateful to Rochester’s David Ind and Newton’s Bus Service, who donated a bus for the school to use to get to Melbourne, saving the girls and their families a significant expense.
Jade McDonald, Chenaya Lewer, Bella Goodson, Charli Danswan, Ella McDonald, Emma Moyle, Lucy McLeod, Charley Schwencke, Ruby Larcombe and Stella Bray will be representing the school and Loddon Mallee region.
