The band, comprised of Echuca locals George Hall, Cooper Naylor, Telia Rorke, Zac Keele and Bonnie Verrall, has been exploring opportunities in Melbourne following the release of debut single Sick to my stomach.
One such opportunity included recording at Rolling Stock Recording Rooms in Melbourne with acclaimed music producer Myles Mumford.
“Recording with Myles Mumford was absolutely wonderful, it was like having another friend in the room but was also very professional while being easy to record with,” lead singer Ms Verrall said.
“He’s helped us mould the songs into more than they were, which is very cool.”
Ms Verrall described the band’s new track Runnin as an upbeat pop rock song that came from her bandmates jamming together, with her lyrics being inspired by the moment when you are having a good time and on the verge of drinking too much.
“Usually, George or Cooper will come in with a riff on the guitar then Zac and Tilly will fill out the base of the song, and I’ll go away and write the lyrics,” she said.
“The lyrics came about because I believe I may have had a few too many spicy juices on the weekend and I had work in the morning, so I wrote the song about having a great night and being on the cusp of taking it too far.
“It’s basically about being out with your friends and being a bit delusional, it’s really fun and a good little story.”
The band’s latest single will be the first in a long line of releases in the next six to 12 months, with the band focusing on gaining traction in the music industry.
“This year we have really focused on writing and making our original music, we’ve got six originals and two covers to come out in the next little while, which is super exciting,” Ms Verrall said.
“We’ve been doing many local gigs and in Melbourne as well; we opened for other Melbourne bands and just playing live as much as we can.
“There’s definitely an album in the works; it’ll be out in the next year after we’ve released a few more singles and an EP.
“Hopefully, we just get the ball rolling more, while we release, we plan to write more just so we can keep the momentum.”
Intrepid will launch its new single at The Golden Vine, Bendigo on Friday, August 15 and it will be available to stream wherever you get your music.
