The Caring for Nature Camp, hosted by RiverConnect and partners, aims to educate participants on environmental issues, create positive memories and inspire continued contribution to nature.
The two-night camp will engage participants in land restoration, teach them about native flora and fauna, and help develop conservation skills while being immersed in bushland and river landscapes.
Guest speakers, practical experiences and meals will be included in the program.
Expressions of interest for the Caring for Nature Camp close on Friday, August 23.
Young adults can apply via shepp.city/nature-camp with preference given to those from or connected to the local Goulburn Broken catchment area.
“A first for our region, we are looking forward to seeing the camp come to life,” City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young adults in the community to be active, learn new skills and connect with our regional landscape.”
RiverConnect project officer Alison White said the project was developed in collaboration with participants.
She said the camp’s proactive strategy would aid in preserving biodiversity, bolster local ecosystems and instil a sense of responsibility for Victoria’s distinctive environment.
The cost is $175 for general admission and $50 for concession, which includes healthcare card holders and full-time students.
